AETHERIA'S HISTORY
DD Productions' Aetheria was founded by five individuals seeking to create an inclusive space beyond Darwin’s traditional club scene. It began humbly with a table, two speakers, and donated gazebos, offering a refuge for those uncomfortable in mainstream venues. It quickly became a vital platform for the underground arts and music scene, especially after the closure of key venues like Bar3, The Chippo, Bloodshed, and most recently, Throb.
What started as a small gathering has grown into a thriving community with 15.7K social media followers and thousands of attendees worldwide. Aetheria has inspired local creatives to explore DJing, music production, and visual arts, proving the power of music, dance, and community in fostering well-being and self-expression.
Before evolving into a multi-day signature festival, The Aetheria team established itself through a series of unforgettable events that shaped Darwin’s alternative music scene. From Down the Rabbit Hole, which transported attendees into an immersive wonderland of light and sound, to Rave to the Grave, a high-energy celebration embracing the darker, heavier side of electronic music and many more each event laid the foundation for what Aetheria has become today.
Now in its third edition, Aetheria continues to evolve, driven by a passionate core crew. The festival has expanded to feature multiple stages, immersive art installations, and a diverse lineup of local and national talent. It remains dedicated to supporting emerging artists, creating opportunities for collaboration, and showcasing the rich cultural landscape of the Northern Territory.
Beyond the festival itself, Aetheria roots lasting connections within the creative community. Through workshops, mentorships, and year-round events, it encourages artistic growth and strengthens Darwin’s arts and music scene. By prioritising inclusivity, sustainability, and cultural exchange, Aetheria is not just an event, it is a movement, shaping the future of the NT’s creative industries and providing a platform for voices that might otherwise go unheard.
